Purchasing and Environmental Sustainability

Rowben Consulting fully believes that as a business it is our ‘social responsibility’ to promote, support and be responsible for environmentally sustainable purchasing practises.

We have endeavoured to be socially conscious of ‘green procurement’ when purchasing goods and selecting suppliers within our organisation.

What have we done?

The responsible purchasing of environmentally friendly products in the office, these include:

  • The purchase of recycled paper for all our letterhead and envelopes
  • All environmentally friendly kitchen products for the dishwasher and general cleaning

The introduction, over the past 8 months, of a number of processes to eliminate paper based/printing functions. These have included:

  • The replacement of a number of key manual ‘sales’ processes that use to be paper based but have now been replaced by using electronic systems from our database
  • A conscious effort to minimise payment of all invoices/bills on line rather than the use of paper based forms such as cheque books.
  • We have significantly reduced our paper based invoices and timesheeting processes
  • All remittance and statement accounts from our finance department are now emailed.

We have also implemented a number of processes for our paper waste.

  • A recycled waste bin that is picked up from our office every 2 weeks
  • A recycled paper tray near our printer that is specially for the use of reprinting so that both sides of paper is used
  • A standard email signature picker which asks for consideration before printing paper

Other things that we have done include:

  • Selection of a green energy supplier
  • The purchasing of energy-efficient light bulbs
  • The decision to lease an office with strong natural light to reduce electricity costs
